AMST 403: Cultural Research and Documentation

The Mill Stories project continued this spring 2014 semester. Students in Michelle Stefano and Bill Shewbridge’s courses (AMST 403: Cultural Research and Documentation and MLL 495/695: Intercultural Video Production) focused on researching and documenting the importance of the Sparrows Point Steel Mill (Dundalk, Baltimore County) from the perspectives of those who knew it best: former mill workers and associated community members.

From AMST 403, Bonnie Bowen, Sharda’ Ham-Alston, Monica Cunanan, and D’Arcy Placilla conducted interviews with former mill workers, Ralph Dudley, Bill Goodman, and Dan Krtanjek. They were also instrumental in producing the Marc Steiner Show radio series, which you can find more about here.
