On Sunday, November 3, the Baltimore Museum of Industry will host a full afternoon of activities at the Stories of Steel Symposium. Hear and share stories about Sparrows Point through film, photography, the written word, and more. Events include:
12:30 pm: Screening of Mill Stories (a documentary about Sparrows Point) and discussion with producers Bill Shewbridge and Michelle Stefano
1:45 pm: Curatorial walk-through of the exhibit Shuttered: Images from the Fall of Bethlehem Steel, with photographer J. M. Giordano and curator Joseph Abel
2:15 pm: Stories of Steel panel discussion moderated by WYPR’s Tom Hall, featuring labor historian Bill Barry, former steelworker and union leader Mike Lewis, Roots of Steel author Deborah Rudacille, and former steelworker and writer Len Shindel.
Have your own steel story to share? Bring your photos or steel-related documents to digitize. There will also be an opportunity to record a brief oral history.
Free admission. Made possible by a grant from Maryland Humanities. For more info, contact Auni Gelles at email@example.com.
